The Corvallis Biodiesel Cooperative (CBC) is aptly located in Corvallis, Oregon, in the heart of the luscious and fertile Willamette Valley. There are currently 35 members in our co-op using biodiesel in everything from 20-year old Volkswagens, new Volkswagen TDI's, the legendary Mercedes diesels, old and new Ford F-250's, a suzuki samurai, a home heating oil furnace, and even an industrial landscape chipper. During the first year of our co-op's existence, CBC was
After a year in the trenches (as they say), our co-op shifted its focus from local production, to local distribution of commercially produced biodiesel, due to the local demand for biodiesel far exceeding our actual production capability. Two years later, we continue to function as such, buying biodiesel in bulk from Sequential Fuels of Eugene, Oregon, and distributing it to our members. Community outreach is an integral component of our co-op as we strive to increase awareness about this vegetable-based, renewable fuel. We routinely give presentations at local high schools and nursing homes as well as maintain an informational booth at many of the local and regional energy fairs (check out our news page to see where we are heading this year). One of our goals is to promote the formation of a web of small-scale biodiesel producers/distributors throughout the Northwest (and eventually the US at large) where biodiesel users can fill up on biodiesel on even their longest sojourns. To these ends, folks passing through the Willamette Valley or the Central Oregon Coast are encouraged to call us and arrange for a fill-up. B100 costs for non-members is $3.75/gal, while members pay $3.25/gal (this price does include the state and federal tax of $.484/gal. which must be added for all on-road use). Membership dues are $75/year and help finance/maintain our fueling/delivery infrastructure as well as our overhead expenses. For more information about joining the Grease Works! co-op, please read our new member info packet , or contact info@corvallisbiodiesel.org
